"Like many of you, I read the directions and poured the powder into the detergent dispenser not even thinking it was a powder rather than my liquid Tide I use and was left with a mess. I started reading the reviews and went to my washing machine's directions and I'm supposed to remove the tray before using a powder. In Tide's defense, they can't possibly give specific directions for all the washers out there, but they can put some generic statement on the box to refer to your machine instructions for using powder.
The scent is a bit overpowering, but if you're trying to get rid of musty, moldy, mildew smells I guess it has to be strong. It would be great if they can tone it down or offer a scent-free version. I didn't find that it lingered, however, I just did it and I may not be noticing it as much someone who hasn't been exposed to it.
It leaves the washer smelling fresh. It looks like the mildew residue that gets stuck in the rubber gasket was reduced. I've been drying the rubber after my last load each time I do laundry along with removing and wiping down the detergent drawer and compartments to eliminate mold growth.
I'll see how it looks after a week or so and try it again."
